This project is a multi-layered investigation of the human need to cage the extraordinary. Driven by the most basic of human desires, we capture and possess in order to control and capitalize on qualities we wish to embody.

First popularized in the Tang Dynasty, caging crickets to capture the song, perceived virility, and good fortune is still regularly practiced today. The kinetic porcelain sculptures, mixed media, and sound installations offer diverse perspectives on captivity and domination.
